Types of Health Insurance

Health insurance is broken down into two main categories: Indemnity Plans and Managed Care Plans.

Indemnity Plans also referred to as a form of reimbursement plan, reimburses you for any medical related expenses no matter which medical provider you use. The actual amount covered will vary depending on your policy.

Managed Care Plan is where the health insurer has some sort of agreement with a health care provider. The insurer have their own network of health providers. There are three main types of managed care plans: PPO, HMO, POS.
